Nathan (the butcher/rapper) actually has a song called "Grocery Store" and I have an odd affection with supermarkets in general. So it would be fitting that we met at one of america's largest retail chains. A new employee to the Whole Foods floral department, I began catching a certain meat department employee glancing over as I pushed my floral cart past his cases. I admit I was intrigued. As the weeks progressed I noticed this certain bearded employee making produce purchases (floral department is in the produce section) almost every day after work. A co-worker of mine called him over one day with "Let Jenn put flowers in your beard!" in reference to the current flower-beard trend. Initially very against the idea of a floral mustache, a sharp and sudden change of tune came from Nathan and he agreed. (lightbulb moment?) We never arranged flowers in Nathan's beard, but we did brew a beer on our second date and in his words "I just kept bothering her, and she kept saying yes." He took me out for Ramen, out on nature hikes, and to a Halloween party. We essentially just never have stopped hanging out since then.
Nathan proposed at Rock City, after convincing me that we had a podcast to do as part of one of our stops on our tour route. (This was during our 3 week fall tour for Spoken Nerd) He enlisted the help of his videographer friends to wear disguises and tape the entire thing.
